De Kampina is een afwisselend gebied van natte en droge heide, bossen en vennen. U kunt hier boomvalken zien, maar ook boompieper en roodborsttapuit. Op de vennen zitten soms dodaarzen.

Het gebied is lastig te bereiken met het openbaar vervoer. Het dichtsbijzijnde treinstation is Boxtel, gelegen op 7 km afstand. In het gebied voert de witte wandelroute u langs het vogelkijkscherm aan het Ganzenven (VERWIJDERD) en een vogelkijkscherm aan het Meeuwenven.
